Page five of issue one of the New Normal is live! Hahaha! I have been waiting for this joke! Chaos, you don't even know!

Heh, this week's been pretty awesome! I got to go on a spontaneous trip to Indy this weekend, and while there, decided I needed to replace my dying Intuos that I use when out of the house (heh, which is about 90% of the time) with an Artisul D13, which is a nicely mid-priced tablet with a screen! AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PLUG IT INTO THE WALL. FUCKIN' A, CINTIQ, TAKE NOTES. Also, I got the package that includes a stand, and DUUUUDE this stand is the SHIIIIIT! CINTIQ, ALSO TAKE NOTES ON THIS, WITH YOUR SHITTY-ASS FLOPPY STAND OF DEATH! Seriously, the Artisul's stand is AMAZING. It's tight, it has rubber or silicone grip in all the right spots, it's infinitely adjustable while still being stable, just...ALL OF THE YES. Honestly, I'm more impressed with the stand then the tablet, and the tablet's great! It's basically a case of "This, the expensive part, does everything it's supposed to do in every way it's supposed to. I have no strong reaction to this thing, which happens to work the way I need it to. BUT THIS STAND, THOUGH!" Seriously, such a contrast to the shitty stand I've been using (and not even while out! We're talking just keeping it set up!) So yeah. Artisul good. AND THAT STAND!

Whoops! Forgot to post it here! Page two of The New Normal went up at about midnight last night! Just before! So that was neat! ...even if it took a biiiiit longer than a week to get it out. Yaaaaah.

Heh, due to the fact that life exists and I am a slow comic maker dude, New Normal doesn't currently have an update schedule, more just loose goals I try to hit. We'll see if things change. I'd love to get it out bi-weekly, but that's absolutely out of reach at the moment. So, gonna try and streamline the process, get in the rhythm, and just churn it out whenever I can for the moment. In the meantime PAGE!

I'm super stoked to work on this project! I finished the page late last night (in a fit of petulance I still dated it January 31--though I'll totally use February 1 as the comic's birthday, cuz THIS IS THE DAY THAT MATTERS), but really couldn't justify staying up to post the thing. SO HERE WE ARE, NOW. I'm so excited to tell this story, you don't even know.

I'm also mildly obsessed with the bacon salad in the last panel of the page.

Okay, let's try this again! I just finished putting up my old comic Group Anthrax. Ooof, this was rough to re-visit. Tsuki's Shorts was fun to look back at, but Group Anthrax was, despite being less old, a rough ride.

Anyway, let's talk about the name of the comic! My group of friends in high school was the large group of people that didn't fit in anywhere else. We were the anime nerds, the geeks, the people who made videos. You were an outsider? Great! We hang out in the mornings by the gym! You can't miss us, we're the giant pile of people on the floor! Hope to see you there! We got to be such a big, vaguely adjacent group that I affectionately dubbed it "The Amoeba," heh, which did catch on for just a bit!

Regardless of what I called us, though, one of my friends overheard a way, way better name. Apparently, according to this person, the entire school could get anthrax, and our group would just keep laughing and joking and whatever like a pile of jackasses. Apparently, we were known in the school as Group Anthrax. And I loved that name. So when I was writing a story about a worldwide transformation affecting not every individual, but a very significant percentage of people focusing on a group of friends pulling together and leaning on each other for strength and joy, and the entire cast was meant to be based on my friends (names, likenesses, their answers to what they would be if they were transformed into what they really were inside)...Well, talk about a shoe-in of a name!

HEY, GUESS WHAT! I added more content! First up, Tsuki's Shorts, an old gag-a-day comic I used to make in high school is now on here, so you can read all fifty pages of that crazy ride! More of my old comics will be going up in the upcoming weeks. Weirdly, probably because of its silly format, Tsuki's Shorts is an easier old project to showcase for me than some of the comics that came after. Eh, maybe part of it is that I was learning so much by doing Tsuki's Shorts, or maybe that I didn't put everything I could have into some of the later pages on the other projects. Or maybe it's that Tsuki's Shorts actually finished, and wasn't just abandoned. WHO KNOWS?

The more important thing, though, is that the title page for The New Normal is up and live! Huzzah! In record time, too!

I am making things! Making so many damn things! I started work on a new comic, cuz woo! The first (roughly fifty page) issue is written, and I put together an initial character lineup. Heh, there are more characters, these are just the first seven characters who appear. ^_^ Five more named characters will appear after that in the issue. BUT THAT IS A FUTURE THING. Kinda. Effectively. A lot of that work's already done. Anyway, the comic is called The New Normal, and the first issue is called Hiding. It's a TF story! Mostly post-TF, though the first few pages show a bit of the main character early-ish in his TF. I'm all excited and stuff!
